This restaurant was our number 1 restaurant when we lived in Paris and we were lucky to have one in our street. We used to dine there almost every week.
La Cantine du Troquet has several restaurants in Paris, we used to go to the one located rue de l’Ouest, next to the Pernety subway station.
The food is typical from the south west of France, very generous food, with a lot of vegetables and olive oil. You’ll always get some slices of good bread to go along your meal.
You can’t make a reservation but they know how to welcome you and make you wait with a little glass of wine and some charcuterie.
From the starters to the desserts, everything is good! We really recommend you to order a starter, an entree and a dessert ; with of course some wine to go with. They have both good fish and meat entrees so just go with your preference and enjoy the sides of purée, potatoes & ratatouille.
Our must have are: eggplant caviar for starter, fish entree with potatoes & ratatouille on the site, rum baba for dessert.
Chestnut Tart for dessert
